Hi all,
We are writing from the Sheraton hotel in Houston, Texas. An initial delay of our flight in Halifax, due to "traffic control", meant that we were unable to catch our connection in Newark, further delaying us from arriving here in Houston to fly to San Pedro Sula. Continental has been less than impressive helping us throughout the process, however, we have been lucky enough to have our hotel and food covered tonight. We will be departing to San Pedro Sula on the same flight tomorrow evening and should arrive by around 10pm Saturday at which point we will stay the evening there and set off for Nuevo Paraiso Sunday morning. This may mean we need to reduce our number of brigade days, but we are still very hopeful to make up for this and work with GMB to maximize the number of patients we can see in the time given.
The group is all safe, a little tired but spirits are still high and we are excited to finally arrive.
We will write again as soon as we arrive to Nuevo Paraiso- Wish us luck!

I was tracking your flights and you arrived at 3:14 in Newark on flight 2893 but fight 811 didn't leave till 3:28. Why couldn't they hold your flight for 5 minutes? Someone should write them a letter. Making your trip one day late probably means that some underprivilaged children won't get to see much needed medical aid if the Brigade cuts one day off thier schedule. Way to go Contennetal Airway "THE FRIENDLY SKIES" but not to friendly on the ground. Hopefully the rest of the trip goes smoothly. Thak care The Duguays
ReplyDeleteAhhh...part of the adventure. Try to enjoy a day in Houston and then back on track!
ReplyDeleteHave fun and be safe...The Burns'clan.
Certainly not the start you anticipated….and I agree with the comment that Continental should have been more accommodating given the size and purpose of your group. That said, I am confident that you will do everything to maximize the number of patients you will help given the organized, hard working and competent group you are…… Hurdles have never stopped you before!!!! All I can say is… “Look out Honduras…Here they come!!”
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you made it thus far safe and sound. Life is full of snags, just one obstacle that will change the experience a bit. I have no doubt that a group who worked so hard to help others will find something positive in the circumstance, you get to see Texas...We are so proud of all of you. stay safe and thanks for the blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update. It is challenges like these that turn in to the memories that make the overall experience so memorable. They are also great tests of our leadership skills. I have no doubt that you are more than up to surpassing the test(s)!
ReplyDeleteThanks for representing Mount Allison to the World. I look forward to further updates.
