Hola Everyone,
First of all we would like to apologize for the lack of posting in the past few days. We had no access to internet where we were staying and were at the discretion of the staff as to when we could reach a computer.
The first flight leaving for Halifax will leave in about 5 minutes and the second flight will be leaving Newark at 12:00 this afternoon. We hope to arrive back in Sackville early this evening and try and catch the big game somewhere in between!
Last night the group got together here at the hotel and reflected on the week. The students and professionals alike were impacted immensely by their experience and by what they gave to and received from the Honduran people.
The past few days of the brigade were fantastic with the public health and medical group accomplishing above and beyond what they expected to achieve. The public health group who worked with two families throughout the week were able to provide concrete floors, water storage units, latrines and clean cooking stoves for each household. In addition they pooled their money together to buy the families a month worth supply of staple foods, something these families would not normally have access to. With the donations we collected before the trip and things of their own, the group provided the families with clothing, footwear, backpacks and more.
The medical brigade was equally successful providing healthcare and donations for 687 people on their last day alone. The students and health professionals worked brilliantly as a team and learned from each other and their patients.
The Global Brigades staff quickly recognized the group's dedication to the movement and was sad to let us go. We left behind many supplies for the next group and with enthusiasm for the brigade next year!
We will post pictures and a final word later- Thank you for following and for all of your support.
